Easy
Prove that the following rational numbers are equal:
\(\frac{−3}{5}\) and \(\frac{−6}{10}\)
SOLUTION
The two given rational numbers are \(\frac{−3}{5}\) and \(\frac{−6}{10}\).
In \(\frac{−6}{10}\), 6 and 10 have a common factor 2. So divding both numerator and denominator by 2, we get
\(\frac{−6}{10} = \frac{\frac{−6}{2}}{\frac{10}{2}} = \frac{−3}{5}\)
Hence, \(\frac{−3}{5}\) and \(\frac{−6}{10}\) are equal.
